As of September 1, 2026, Carnival Cruise Line replaced its former VIFP Club® (Very Important Fun Person)loyalty program with a new program called Carnival Rewards™.
If you've cruised Carnival before, don't worry — your old VIFP number didn't disappear. Your former VIFP Number is now called your Carnival Guest Number (CG#).
Every Carnival guest has a Carnival Guest Number, but eligible guests must enroll/opt in to Carnival Rewards and accept the program terms to fully participate and receive Carnival Rewards benefits. Carnival
Carnival Rewards — Official Carnival Website
Under the old VIFP program, your status was primarily determined by the number of days you sailed with Carnival.
Carnival Rewards works differently.
You now earn Status Qualifying Stars based primarily on eligible spending with Carnival.
For every $1 spent on eligible Carnival purchases, members generally earn:
⭐ 3 Status Qualifying Stars — used to determine your loyalty status.
🎁 3 Carnival Rewards Points — points you can actually redeem toward eligible Carnival purchases.
Casino players can also earn 1 Status Qualifying Star for every casino point earned, and Carnival Rewards Mastercard holders have additional ways to earn. Carnival
Think of it this way:
⭐ STARS = YOUR STATUS
Stars determine whether you're Red, Gold, Platinum or Diamond.
🎁 POINTS = MONEY/VALUE YOU CAN USE
Points can be redeemed toward eligible Carnival purchases.
Everyone begins with benefits as soon as they enroll in Carnival Rewards.
Red Benefits Include:
🎁 Earn & redeem Carnival Rewards Points
💰 Access to member-only offers
💧 One complimentary 1.5-liter bottle of water
There is no longer a separate Blue loyalty tier under Carnival Rewards. Previous VIFP Blue members who enrolled transitioned to Red. Carnival
Once you reach 10,000 Stars, you reach Gold.
Gold includes the Red benefits plus:
📞 Gold Member Support
🍹 One complimentary beverage on cruises of 5+ days
💧 One complimentary 1.5-liter bottle of water
🎁 Earn & redeem Carnival Rewards Points
💰 Member-only offers
One noticeable change from the old program: the old Gold VIFP pin has been discontinued. Carnival
Platinum members receive significantly more onboard and priority benefits.

🛍️ Eligible onboard purchases

Generally, eligible members earn 3 Points + 3 Stars for every eligible $1 spent. Carnival
Casino activity also counts.
Members earn 1 Status Qualifying Star for every casino point earned.
Carnival Rewards Points are handled slightly differently for casino play: Carnival says members earn 1 Rewards Point for every casino point remaining at the end of the sailing after applicable casino-point redemption for FunPlay.
Carnival Players Club offers and Carnival Rewards are separate programs. Carnival
This is VERY important to understand.
If several eligible guests share a stateroom, Carnival doesn't necessarily give all the cruise-fare Points and Stars to the person who paid for everybody.
For multiple eligible guests in one cabin, eligible cruise-fare activity is generally divided equally among the eligible guests in that stateroom.
For a single-occupancy cabin, the eligible traveling member receives the applicable cruise-fare Points and Stars.
And if you pay for someone else's cabin but you aren't traveling in that cabin, the eligible traveling guests receive the applicable credit — not simply the person whose credit card paid the bill. Carnival
Guests under age 18 cannot participate directly in Carnival Rewards.
Minors sail with the same status and applicable benefits as their responsible paying adult.
The responsible adult receives the applicable Points and Stars generated from the minor's eligible pre-cruise and onboard spending.
When the child turns 18, they can activate their Carnival.com account using their Carnival Guest Number and enroll in Carnival Rewards. Their accumulated cruise days can also carry forward for future milestone recognition. Carnival
Unlike Status Qualifying Stars, Rewards Points can actually be redeemed.
Carnival currently allows eligible members to redeem Points toward:
🚢 Eligible cruise fare — including during the booking process.
And while onboard, eligible members can use the Carnival HUB App to redeem Points toward eligible purchases such as:
🏝️ Shore excursions
🍽️ Specialty dining
💆🏽♀️ Spa treatments
🍹 Drink packages
📶 Wi-Fi
🛍️ Other eligible onboard purchases
Carnival says pre-cruise redemption for ancillary purchases is not available yet, but is planned for a future release.
There is currently no minimum number of Points required to begin redeeming and no stated maximum redemption amount as long as the member has enough available Points for the eligible purchase. Carnival
They can.
Carnival says Rewards Points do not expire as long as you have eligible qualifying activity at least once within a three-year period.
Earning or redeeming Points counts as qualifying activity and restarts the three-year period.
Different rules apply to qualifying Carnival Rewards Mastercard holders. Carnival
Carnival now uses Status Earning Windows rather than simply allowing your lifetime number of cruise days to determine status.
The first Carnival Rewards earning window is:
The next is:
If you earn enough Stars to move to a higher tier during an earning window, you don't have to wait until the window ends. Carnival upgrades your status when you qualify.
You then enjoy that status for the remainder of the current earning window and the following two-year Status Enjoyment Period.
At the beginning of a new Status Earning Window, Status Qualifying Stars reset to zero and the new earning period begins. Carnival
This is probably one of the most important sections for your repeat Carnival cruisers.
Guests who achieved VIFP Diamond by August 31, 2026 receive lifetime Carnival Rewards Diamond status after enrolling in the new program. Carnival
Guests who were VIFP Platinum as of August 31, 2026 receive Carnival Rewards Platinum through December 31, 2028 after enrolling.
At the beginning of each new two-year earning cycle, these transitioned Platinum members also receive a 10,000-Star boost, giving them Gold status and a head start toward Platinum or Diamond. Carnival
Previous Platinum and Diamond members who haven't enrolled yet should not ignore the change. Carnival says eligible former Platinum/Diamond guests must enroll before the end of 2028, subject to its data-retention rules, to receive the full transition treatment. Carnival
Nothing — you keep it.

You do not need a new number just because Carnival changed loyalty programs.
Every Carnival guest has a Carnival Guest Number, whether or not they participate in Carnival Rewards. Carnival
Having a Carnival Guest Number does not automatically mean you're enrolled in Carnival Rewards.
Eligible guests need to log into Carnival.com and accept the Carnival Rewards Terms & Conditions to enroll.
That also explains the “OPT-IN REQUIRED” status you may see associated with a Carnival Guest Number. Carnival
Carnival hasn't completely abandoned recognizing how much you've actually cruised.
Days sailed still matter for Milestone recognition, even though they no longer determine your regular Red/Gold/Platinum/Diamond status.
Carnival recognizes enrolled members when they reach:
🎉 50 Days
🎉 100 Days
🎉 200 Days
🎉 Every additional 100 Days
Days sailed before Carnival Rewards launched still count toward future milestones for enrolled members. Carnival
For example, Carnival currently lists the 50-day milestone as including 5,000 Carnival Rewards Points and a special Sail & Sign card on the milestone sailing. Other milestone recognition can include exclusive onboard gifts and shipboard recognition. Carnival
If you already had a Carnival/VIFP account, do not create another account just because the program changed.
Log into your existing Carnival account and follow the prompts to enroll in Carnival Rewards™ and accept the new Terms & Conditions.
Your former VIFP number should already be your Carnival Guest Number.

Don't confuse Carnival Rewards Points with Status Qualifying Stars.
⭐ Stars determine your STATUS:
Red → Gold → Platinum → Diamond
🎁 Points are your REWARDS:
Earn them and redeem them toward eligible Carnival cruise purchases.
And make sure Carnival has your correct Carnival Guest Number on every reservation. If you've sailed Carnival before, don't create a new profile simply because you can't remember your old number. Duplicate guest profiles can cause your cruise history and rewards information to become separated.
